Ahh, this is the blog I've been excited to write about. What a GREAT weekend we had. Not only did we get to see good friends of ours that we have not seen in years but Sha got to meet 8 other children, mostly from China, who are adopted. She also got to experience sports and activities that were suited for "achons", meaning they were easier for her to use. She did everything from camp fires, to rock climbing (got to the top), zip lining, painted wooden snakes, swimming, played a game of baseball, rode bikes everywhere (even tried a friends with no training wheels), but the most refreshing event was when it down poured Saturday night and she went dancing in the rain. She had been doing this a couple of time at home which was never a big deal. Well this time it was pouring and she wanted to do it, I decided "why not" and the next thing I knew all 11 kids were out dancing in the rain. It was pure innocence at best. It was such a relaxing weekend and we are totally sold on going again next year.
Our little miss sunshine, Yao Sha is from Changsha City Hunan, China. She is 9 years old and will soon learn her forever family is coming for her. Please follow our journey with us.

Song Share
Sha had her first "performance" with her class, called Song Share. They sang 2 songs and of course our little sunshine was in the front row, she did great. Not much to blog other than Paul and I have officially turned into "dorky" parents because we pushed our way to the front row when she was up and were yelling and cheering the entire time. Unfortunately not all the pictures are clear as I am still trying to figure out my new camera.
Camporee
As part of Sha's last big event as a Brownie, the troop went Camping in Niantic, not too far from here. The original plan was to go for the day with Sha and her friend Lea. We were there for about 30 seconds when Sha decided she wanted to spend the night. I, of course, had nothing on me and before I could respond her best friends Ella's mom offered to watch her for the night since she was staying there. I was a nervous wreck since the only time she has ever spent the night away from us was at my parents house so it is quite different then leaving her outside camping without us. I thought for sure we would get a phone call in the middle of the night saying she wanted to come home but we didn't:) She had a ball. They went on hikes, climbed rock walls, made Fairy Houses and painted shirts. The next day when she came home she was flying with pure happiness over here experience. I was told she slept like a rock....I, of course didn't:)

Memorial Day
We spent Memorial Day the only way you should, a BBQ at the beach:) Sha loved it. You can see the summer coming out in her.She played in the sand, the water, on the swings, trackball and the playground. She at burgers and pasta salad, drank out of a big plastic cup and loved it. The bummer of the day is she was suppose to be in the Memorial Day parade for with her Girl Scouts but unfortunately it poured that morning so it got canceled. Luckily she had enough to keep her busy.
Lake Compounce
Morning, it's 6:00am and I finally have some time to catch up on some well deserved blogging. Hopefully I will be able to capture the last month. This post is about our trip to Lake Compounce, it's an amusement park that is local to us. Sha has been non stop talking about going on a Roller Coaster so when we surprised her at the gates of the park she flipped with excitement. We did everything from games, to rides, to eating junk food. She even got me to go on water rides. The bummer of course was she didn't meet half the height requirements so the roller coaster had to be kid friendly (which was fine by me). If it was up to her she would have stayed until the park closed. She was so excited about this trip that she managed to get energy to go to Grandma and Grandpa's that night for dinner, she literally ran in the door and was bursting to share her day with them, it was very sweet.
